Premier Su Showing His Support to Animation Industry in Taiwan

Tseng-Chang Su Stepped in the Animation Company, Showing His Support for the Animation Industry in Taiwan with His Actions

2011/4/26

“Memory Loss” produced by F.Rhythm 3D Animation Company is the first original 3D animated film in Taiwan. It took 5 years to complete this work. Before it was released, it had won several awards including the 2008 Kuala Lumpur International Film Festival (KLIFF) best animated film and several awards from the government units.

Mr. Tseng-Chang Su who is always on the move always showed his support for the animation industry in Taiwan with his actions. He found time in his tight schedule before the primary election of the party to visit F.Rhythm 3D Animation Company to meet the directors of “Memory Loss”, Gloria Kao and Cold Leng. And the leading role Anita showed up to welcome Su in the form of puppet. Su said merrily that he would very much like to see this movie as the president after May 6th, when the movie is released. And he also wishes to pay more attention of talents in the fields of movie, animation, and comics as the president, so that Taiwan can be noticed by the world because of its cultural and creative industries such as the music, movie, animation, and comics industries. Resources from the government can be used to support them.

After watching the trailer, Su was impressed by the two young directors who had spent 5 years pursuing their dreams, using their talents, and achieving their goals. A masterpiece like “Memory Loss” wouldn’t be produced without people like them. Su believed that what we see when we were children usually stays deep in our memories. However, he also thought it is a pity that famous animation characters are all from abroad. For example, “Doraemon” is from Japan, “Mickey Mouse” is from the US, and even “Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf” is from China. There are talents and creativity in Taiwan. Su said that he hasn’t served any public position for years. During this period of time, he has learned a lot in different fields. And from all these experiences he sees some problems in Taiwan. If the government can step out to facilitate integration, Taiwan will definitely be better than other countries. And the two directions expected that both the government and the people in Taiwan can be more generous in encouraging local works and showing supports through actions, helping to create more cultural assets for the animation field in Taiwan.

“Memory Loss” is not just a popcorn film. It also delivers some educational meanings. The personalities of the characters and the stories are related to some issues regarding social concern. It is very inspiring for children, in a psychological way, and modern people who are under a lot of pressure. The production company of this film is F.Rhythm, a company with 25 employees. The young husband and wife, Cold Leng and Gloria Kao, are the directors of this film and owners of this company. With insistency and dreams, they finally finished this film. The efforts behind this product are very moving, showing the power of the brave. The main business in the animation field in Taiwan is outsourced work. In this difficult environment, this animation shows the stubborn insistency of the Taiwanese people. It is hope that we can show the world that the Taiwanese people can do more than just outsourced work and our next generation can watch animations from Taiwan instead of Europe, USA, Japan, and even China! It would be very meaningful if we can all go to theaters to support the animation which is “made in Taiwan”!
